I am a Software Engineer from Chennai, India.
Competitive programming nudged me into coding during my undergraduate days. It was especially fun trying to outrun each other solving problems. I started my professional career as a native android application developer. Since then, I have developed software across mobile, desktop and web platforms. I find free time to read books, read and write poetry in Tamil, one of the longest surviving classical languages in the world.
It is always rewarding to work with someone who knows more than you. And the opensource community is full of such people. Like anyone else, I also fell for the positive reinforcement that came along with it. The more I got involved, the more I realized how much I am missing as a software developer and the plethora of opportunities to explore and learn new things. I am still amazed by the opensource machinery that can maintain its structure and keep scaling and rolling even during tough times.
I have a wonderful mentor in @mahadevan.sreenivasan who introduced me to Ferdi. I used to pin tabs in browsers for mail, meet, chat, slack and whatever communication tool I used. Ferdi seemed like an interesting solution to get rid of this. And the fact that we can give back to Ferdi was even more intriguing. I am still an amateur opensource contributor. But the Ferdi community was so welcoming that I didn’t feel like one. The feeling of contributing even a tiny bit to a good product is so satisfying.
I am also working on other small projects, one being a simple pictionary app (link in bio) with @mahadevan.sreenivasan. We are closing in on the first release and would love more contributors for the same !
